Hi, I am Nicole Ambacher.

I am a digital learning specialist.

What I Do

I create training and professional development opportunities for international learners.

Vision

I connect people and facilitate learning innovation. I adapt professional development to 21st century realities and build networks that create engaged learning communities.

Create

I design learning activities for new ways to think, explore, and grow.
I help to find the right technology for an organization, and shape educational curriculums and digital content.

Implement

Pilot projects require working together across disciplines and departments.
I develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support successfull implementation.

Evaluate

Innovation often start from experiments, failure, and user feedback. I help to ensure that all learning activities meet an organization’s requirements and bring measurable impact.

My Latest Project: A Workshop Goes Digital

I led the first transformation of a workshop into an online professional development opportunity for EducationUSA, a Department of State network. I led the technology implementation using Google Classroom.

All sessions are now offered remote and asynchronous. Embedded live events and scheduled 1:1 consultations ensure personal connections. Weekly assignments and interactive quizzes help learners to stay on track. A reflection blog for learners and a group capstone project create an engaged community and offer a platform for learner created content.

About Me

I have been working in different roles in Higher Education - from teaching, instructional design, curriculum development, professional coaching, to program evaluation. A Workshop Goes Digital

A transformation of professional development

I led the transformation of a face-to-face workshop into a virtual professional development opportunity for EducationUSA, a Department of State network. I was leading the technology implementation using Google Classroom.

All sessions are now offered fully remote and asynchronous. Embedded live events and scheduled 1:1 consultations ensure personal connections. Weekly assignments and interactive quizzes help learners to stay on track.

A reflection blog for learners and a capstone project create an engaged community and a platform for learner -reated content.

A Mobile Health Platform

A digital health app for caregivers at home

Concept and implementation of a mobile platform for caregivers at home caring for a loved one with dementia.

Implementation of a custom learning managment system. Development of an online course on communication with dementia patients.

Online Coachings for Patients

Digital Learning for Patients

Paedagogical concept of an e-learning platform for patients, offering individualized learning modules.

Each 12-week long course contained multi-media content as well a regular check-ups with the patient’s physician. Each individual patient’s progress was tracked and evaluated.

Curriculum Re-Design Workshop

An immersive learning experience for international faculty

I was part of a small group that was developing, implementing, and evaluating a three-day intensive active learning experience for international faculty.

The goal was to support each participant in his/her effort to re-design an existing curriculum for a class they already offer. Three days of lectures, followed by group work and an individual capstone project.

Each participant added an active learning element, a student-centered assessment strategy, and SMART learning objectives for each unit.

Crafting Your Successfull Career

A Blended Learning Career Developing Class

Blended learning to navigate today's professional world.

This class was designed as a professional development opportunity to help international scholars at Michigan State University navigate today's professional world and take one’s career to the next level.

The course followed a blended learning approach, using online ressources to teach professional communication and networking skills, CV writing, preparation for job interviews, and stress reduction techniques. This was then supplemented by guest speakers who taught once a week in a live face-to-face setting.

Campus invites International Educators

Michigan Higher Education Institutions open their doors

One week of professional development for EducationUSA advisors from 22 countries.

I initiated the formation of the tri-institutional consortium, and lead the consortium from proposal stage to execution. Cross-Institutional Involvement from Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, and Calvin College. This was the first time this high-profile training was awarded to Michigan.

It invoved lectures, site visits, networking events, and a College Fair with 12 regional institutions representing higher education opportunities in Michigan.
